Dumble Dora V Tani Kazari took Reserve Winners Bitch from the Open class. Best Owner Han- dler was GCH Pramada’s Naughty Some Like It Hot, who went on to NOHS Group 3 under Judge Susan St. John—Brown. Monday evening, courtesy of our generous donor, Shannon Biszantz, featured a Route 66 Diner meal followed by a Fun Match on the plaza of the host hotel. Visitors fromNewZealand, Australia and Germany were treated to their first ever root beer float, which all agreed was a treat indeed! Laughs abounded as Ralf Ebbrecht from Witten, Germany judged the entrants and selected his favorites, awarding leashes and dog toys to all en- trants. The highlight of the evening was the “handler” competi- tion with participants judged on their handling of imaginary Af- fens. The creativity the handlers used to capture the judge’s eye of their “exhibits” brought tears of laughter to those observing this hilarious event. I personally felt that the best handler was the one that brought a four foot tall blow up Alien into the ring on a lead! We wrapped up on Tuesday with Southwest Day, honoring the history and diverse culture of New Mexico. Southwestern and Native American attire, as well as some of the gorgeous hand- crafted turquoise jewelry for which the region is famous, were on display by exhibitors. The trophy table was decorated with Native American themed trophies, blankets and artifacts. Best of Breed, Best of Winners and Best of Opposite Sex were pre- sented with beautifully handcrafted Native American themed Affen embroidered dog beds, while Select Dog and Bitch, Win- ners Dog and Bitch, as well as Reserve Winners Dog and Bitch, were awardedNative American themed crate pads. These lovely creations were made by fabric artist, Nancy Thomas of Little- ton, CO. First in each class was awarded a dream catcher. Tuesday’s breed judge, Susan St. John—Brown, selected GCH Tamarin Tatoo as Best of Breed, who was then later awarded with a Toy Group 2 by Judge Karen S. McFarlane. Mrs. St. John—Brown’s choice for Best of Winners/Winners Bitch was the Open class winner, Dumble Dora V Tani Kazari. Newly minted CH Limelight’s Jamaican Me Crazy went Best of Op- posite Sex and CH Tamarin Titus was chosen as Select Dog to finish his GCH. Select Bitch went to GCH Ferlin Cobbler’s Brazen Gillette. Winners Dog went to the 12—18 Months dog, Enchante’s Boston Cream Pi, while Reserve Winners Dog was awarded to the 9—12 Months dog, Ferlin Cobbler’s Solace Un- cle Sam. Reserve Winners Bitch was Tamarin Tenille from the 6—9Months class. All agreed that the event fulfilled its promise as The Land of Aff-enchantment weekend, with many stating it was the most fun National they’d ever attended! After many hugs and prom- ises to reconnect next June at the 2020 National at Woofstock in California, farewells were exchanged and the Affen gang went their merry ways.
