Top Notch Toys - September 2016

he wishes he could have had more rib- bons! His Winners Dog was from the Bred By Exhibitor class, Peri’s Big Shot, breeder-owner handled by Per Rismyhr, who went on to get Best Bred By Exhibi- tor in Show and Winners Dog over the next two days to finish his champion- ship. The Winners Bitch went to a six-month old King Charles puppy, Magic Montanas Make It Better, that was breeder-owner handled by Mary Rasmussen; she also went on to get Best Puppy in Show. The Best of Variety class was highly competitive. In the end, Best of Variety went to a Blenheim dog, GCh Clussexx Cream and Crimson, “Dex- ter”, handled by Christopher Keith and owned by Patti and Richard Caldwell and Tobi Adams. This was the first ETS- CA National Specialty for Mr. Keith and

the Caldwells. To say they were excited would be an understatement—their faces were wreathed in smiles. They were sincerely congratulated by many in the 30-minute judging break before the King Charles & Ruby variety began. There were slightly fewer of the King Charles & Ruby variety entered, however the exhibits were equally competitive. There were no absences among the class dogs, with a nice entry across the age groups. Winners Dog went to a King Charles dog from the open class, Ashton Winmar Victory For Dragons Gate, owned and handled by Tobi Adams. Winners Bitch went to a lovely puppy from the 6-9 month class, Peri’s Sally Bowles, breeder-owner handled by Per Rismyhr. The veteran classes were also well attended and

very competitive; it is always nice to see our older dogs aging so nicely and still enjoying the show ring. The Best of Variety competition was stiff, and in the end it was between CH Southdown Fait Accompli, “Vincent”, and a dog from the veteran classes and last year’s National Specialty winner, GCH Novel Backroads Run For the Roses, “Derby”. In conversations following the National, Mr. Howard said he was hard pressed to decide between these two excellent specimens, and how nice it was for the future of the breed to be so pressed! In the end, Best of Variety went to the veteran dog, “Derby”, owner handled by Heather Reid. Best of Opposite Sex went to another veteran, Hi-Vu’s Unique Roses Are Red, breeder-owner handled by Judy Swanson.
