HAVANESE CLUB OF AMERICA REGIONAL SPECIALTY by Kathy Ambler

O n July 5th, 2019 the Havanese ClubOf America held its regional specialty show in Monroe, Mich- igan as part of the Maize and Blue Specialties. The show was host- ed by the Great Lakes Havanese Club. Every year our specialty show brings in some top quality dogs, and this year was no different. Our judge was John Russell Palmer from Australia and it was clear that he was having a dif- ficult time choosing the winners from each class. He ended up giving Best of Breed to CH Luv Bug’s Cassimere Summer Down Under out of a gor- geous line up of male and female spe- cials. Bred by Connie Bannitt, owned by Faye Skelton and Connie, Shown by Zachary Newton. Best of Oppo- site went to Canadian CH Old Ha- vana’s Phoenix At Sandant who was

her assignment and the silly antics of the puppies. Her choice for Best in Sweeps was Canadian CH Old Ha- vana’s Phoenix At Sandant who was shown in sweeps by co owner Linda Beasley. For Best Opposite, she chose Yaya’s But I’m A Good Girl who is owned by Bridgette Callahan and Courtnie Matthew, was bred by them and was shown by Barbara Lamb. The Maize and Blue Specialties is held each year in conjunction with the Ann Arbor Kennel Club all Breed shows on the weekend. It is a fantastic weekend with many activities includ- ing, performance events, NOHS, Ju- nior Handling, health clinics etc. Please keep these shows in mind for 2020 and join us on July 3rd. You will be glad you did.

Select dog went to the Best Veteran dog Bydand Rolling Thunder At Selah who was shown by Michael Hockin. He is owned by Lisa and Tony Hockin and was bred by Diane Klumb. The puppy and Veteran Sweeps were judged by Ms Azalea Alvarez who made the trip to Monroe to judge our specialty, from Florida. She enjoyed
