1. Tell us Three conformaTion characTerisTics you consider criTical in your breeding program. Many may not consider TEMPERAMENT a conformation characteristic, but it is the most essential component of Shih Tzu breed type. Without the outgoing personality and friend- ly demeanor you do not have that tail wagging disposition or the correct Shih Tzu style of a proud arrogant dog going around the ring with tail and head held high. Secondly would be the HEAD. Large, broad, round with large round eyes, strong square muzzle with strong wide underjaw and good teeth. Third would be SOUNDNESS. Not only will it result in great effortless movement but will contribute to a healthy dog that will live a long life whether it be a top show dog or family pet.

Sorry I must also add a fourth, TAIL, the characteristic high tail set with typical tea cup tail. Too many dogs have a flat tail with little or no arch. 2. WhaT dog ThaT you bred have you been mosT exciTed abouT? There have been so many over the years. In the 80s, it was “Chase”, Ch Wenrick’s Chassen Rainbows. In the 90s, it was “Woody”, Ch Wenrick’s Hollywood Hit. Both these dogs were not only multi Best In Show and Specialty winners but they were amazing producers and helped stamp the look of Wenrick Shih Tzu. More recently, it was “Clark”, GCh Wenrick’s Hol- lywood Memories; and of course “Panda”, GCh Wen- rick’s Don’t Stop Believing—both are American National Specialty Winners.
