In the show world, it’s people who complain about los- ing. My breeding complaint is breeding to a top-winning dog just because he is on top. One must remember, this does not always produce what you want. 6. is There a grooming secreT you Would like To share? I wash all white markings in a shampoo for white dogs. Then when I touch up with a bit of chalk, they really stand out. 7. do you inbreed, line breed or ouTcross and Why? I have done both line breeding and outcross. I am not fond of inbreeding. I believe you could double up on health prob- lems when you inbreed. I know people will disagree—this is what I believe. 8. do you Think your currenT sTandard is adequaTe? Yes. 9. Where do you house your dogs and Whelp your biTches? I have large rooms with large pens. Boys are separate from the girls. My older dogs have their very own kennel. I love to whelp in my bedroom—it’s my favorite thing to do. Nothing like listing to the sounds of puppies getting their meals. 10. aT WhaT age do you deTermine a puppy To be shoW qualiTy? I am lucky in that respect. It seems quality jumps out at me early on. I have not missed yet. There is a quality that comes out in their playtime. 11. WhaT is The greaTesT healTh concern for your breed? I would say auto immune diseases. 12. if you Were noT involved WiTh shoW dogs, WhaT Would you do? God willing, I will always be involved with my dogs. Showing will be limited; but if I can, I will still be in the ring. Otherwise I could get into horses again.
1. Tell us Three conformaTion characTerisTics you consider criTical in your breeding program? I aim for soundness, type and temperament. 2. WhaT dog ThaT you bred have you been mosT exciTed abouT? This goes way back. There were two boys that my Ch. Maid Mariam Produced, Ch. Lorac Blue Danube and Ch. Lorac Gyrfacon. They both were all breed Best in Show dogs to date and I have two youngsters coming on. 3. WhaT are your ThoughTs on imporTing and exporTing? I do not trust the health situation. I’m not sure if they even do any testing. I may be wrong, but I trust dogs bred in the US. One must deal with breeders who do the testing. 4. To daTe, WhaT has been your high poinT as a breeder?
